Objective

To have a grasp of the ministry of missions

Activities

Miri | 21 October 2003

The following spiritual activities took place:

  • Witnessing first hand the sharing of gospel tracts to the tribal people.
  • Co-labouring with Preacher Harrison Wan Kasip.

Preacher Harrison chaired the meeting, played the electronic piano and also translated into Kayan dialect, the message on Psalms 127 and 128, preached by Rev. Lee Kim Shong. Preacher Harrison need helpers for his demanding ministry. If we will not go, then we must pray.

Brunei | 22 October 2003

Brunei is “next door” to Miri. We crossed the border into Brunei, where:

  • Words of comfort were shared with a dying sister, Susan Teoh, beloved wife of brother Johnny Teoh. Susan, who had been striken with cancer, has since gone back to the Lord.
  • Fellowship dinner at brother Terry Jayasuria’s house. Rev. Lee spoke on Ruth and Boaz, to encourage the hearts of those present.

Sibu | 23 October 2003

Preacher Ling Soon Ing is the resident preacher in the registered Sibu B-P Church. He warmly welcomed us. He arranged for a Youth meeting, during which Eld. Andrew Chen instructed the youths on living a godly life. There were about 20 youths who attended the meeting. The meeting was followed by fellowship tea, where further counsel was shared.

Please pray for Preacher family Ling and their stand-alone ministry on biblical separation.

Kuching | 24 October 2003

We took a flight into Kuching. Here we visited Preacher Bong Muk Choy, the full time worker of Kuching B-P Church. He too stands alone in a place, where the mainline churches have gone ecumenical. Please pray for this lone warrior of Christ.

God be praised. The trip had created our awareness in the following:

  • A lack of sound Christian literature in the mission fields in Sarawak
  • Sarawak, being the biggest state of Malaysia, has a lot of potential for gospel work
  • The younger generation of so-called “Christians” has departed from their faith. They have neglected the vital life of the church - worship. They have gone the way of the world. How sad.
  • The churches in Sarawak, at large, have become ecumenical and some have even gone apostate.
  • “The harvest truly is plenteous but the labourers few. Pray ye therefore, the Lord of harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” - Matthew 9:37-38.

Conclusion

The mission team will make her report to the Session for further action. May God give us the wisdom to act appropriately.
