Venue: Chiang Mai, Chai Prakarn, Padaeng Village, Mae-Pun Village
1-6 June 2004
The missions outreach in Northern Thailand comes under the purview of Calvary Jurong. Our brethren from across the causeway extended to us the privilege of experiencing the joy of missions work.
As the ministry of missions is relatively new in Calvary Jaya, it was a wonderful opportunity to acquaint ourselves with this exciting ministry of missions. Being the church of Jesus Christ, we cannot afford to be incognizant of the opportunities around us. Neither can we afford to tarry where we are, in the comfort zone of Petaling Jaya, when a great door and effectual is opened to us.

Activities |
Chiang Mai |
Chiang Mai served as a convenient meeting place for the two missions teams, as they flew in separately from
Chai Prakarn |
We witnessed the ministry of Preacher and Mrs. Foo Cheong Tat among the mountain villagers at Chai Prakarn. The young couple is also from Hong Kong.
A night meeting was conducted for a congregation of about 40, both of old and young people from local churches (including Tamngob and Sinchai). They gathered for a time of blessing through:
Morning Visitation |
We made visitations with local village leaders. Through our visitation, their hearts were greatly encouraged.
Night Gospel Rally |
A gospel rally was held at a people’s school which was set up by local villagers with the help of Taiwanese government and people. The local villagers here are descendents of Kuomintang (Nationalist) army.
We praise God that the people’s school, staffed by three Christian teachers, also conduct Bible lessons for the students. We pray that the students will come to know the Lord and be mightily used by Him.
On the morning of departure from Padaeng village, we had a spiritual feast of Bible reading and praying. Intercessions were made for the ministry of the local churches.
We departed for scenic Mae-Pun, where we were hosted by Preacher Xiong Fu Yi. Mae-Pun was our last mission stop, before the mission team broke ranks, returning home separately. By 6 June, all of us had left North Thailand.
Conclusion |
Truly, praise be to our God of heaven, for a most blessed missions trip. Our hearts were strangely warmed, and zeal kindled and our resolve to go into the world to preach the gospel greatly strengthened.
