Divine Coverage For The Faithful

God will deliver and save you if you trust Him sincerely. He promised to save us from different dangers. There are traps set by the enemies like the traps for the birds. The cunning hunters will set the traps in a skilful manner so that the birds cannot see the traps clearly. There will be pestilence waiting to harm us. Diseases and viruses had claimed many lives before and at the moment. There are invisible poisons in the air also. The pandemic caused the city to look like a dead town. Many people who love to hang out are hiding at home. Against such dangers the Lord promised to save and cover us. It doesn’t mean that those who trust in the Saviour Jesus Christ will live forever on earth. It means that the Lord will save us frequently from such dangers. We would have perished much earlier if the Lord folded His hands.

In 1945, the Japanese invaded the town of Manila. lt looked like Manila would be under the control of the enemies soon. There was a small Protestant church in the town. That morning two friends attended the church worship service. The church was packed with members and soldiers. The pastor was preaching on Psalm 91. The noise of the warfare was very loud. The artillery was attacking the sites of the Japanese invaders and a shell dropped nearby. The earth shook and dust from the ceiling fell down. The worshippers were reminded of the protection of the Lord and they were not injured. The service finished. The worshippers were thankful for the care of the Most High in the critical hours.

Many Christian soldiers throughout history have prepared for battles by reading this psalm. How they received divine assurance on the battlefield of their mind before they were sent out. Some Christians in the United States of America named this psalm as Divine 911 because the emergency telephone number in their county is 911. May we be reminded of this psalm whenever we are frightened by visible and invisible threats.  We see the images of divine coverage in the following: God shall cover His children with feathers. He wants to protect His children from dangers. The obedient children will hide under His wings. They will hold on to the divine revelation which is God’s Word. The truth is divine promises to protect the faithful. God doesn’t delight in seeing people suffer, especially His covenant people.

The faithful should not be frightened by the invisible dangers and visible attack. This doesn’t teach the children of God to be foolish in looking to get into unnecessary troubles. The Lord wants us to be wise. The unwise will leave the coverage of divine feathers and walk into danger. When they suffer, it is due to their unbelief. They have themselves to be blamed. Therefore we are to forsake our limited wisdom and hold on to the promises of God.  Proverbs 3:5 says  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. Verse 7 says Be not wise in thine own eyes, fear the LORD and depart from evil.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, if the Lord is the object of our trust, then let us rest on His promises. He is ever faithful. Those who believe in Him shall not be put to shame ultimately. We are ever thankful for divine coverage day and night, throughout our lifetime.
