CHURCH WEEKLY

DEDICATION PLEDGE

From the Board of Elders

Dear Members in Christ,

Dedication Pledge

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:2-3

Today is the first Lord’s Day of the New Year, 2022.

For the past few days and nights in December 2021, many greetings and best wishes messages, numbering in the millions, would have been exchanged electronically and globally. In the “good old days”, before the advent of digitisation and wireless connectivity, “greetings” and “best wishes” cards were hand written and sent via the postal service, which today, we call snail mail.

Today, we are so familiar with the modern electronic devices, digitisation, technology convergence, cloud storage, Artificial Intelligence, super-speed wireless connectivity like the 5G, we wonder how did the previous generations “survived” without such means. Within our easy grasp are convenience and speed of attainment, entertainment and achievement of our wants and desires. We are in a “super-speed and instant” society, which are measured in micro-seconds. Whatever we need, these needs are within our grasp instantly. Knowledge is available anytime and anywhere by just “googling”. Thus, man’s dependency on modern technology has made man captive to the god of this world. Technology had given man a false sense of security, superiority, knowledge, supremacy, power and “super-pride”. Man falsely believes that he is all supreme and powerful! Technology has become the source, pride, power and idol of man’s heart. Gradually, God is being displaced, replaced and distanced from man’s heart. It is indeed an abomination to God and the foolishness of man. Godly wisdom is lacking. The ruler of this world has won over depraved, foolish and sinful man.

We witness today that the present technology advancement is a norm for those below the age of 60’s for they had not seen what the world was before the “digital and internet age”. Children born today are naturally gifted and have high affinity to modern gadgets, whereas, the elderly folks, fear and struggle to understand and use gadgets like the mobile phones.

Today, without the knowledge of “using a smart phone”, we would be disadvantaged and inconvenienced. The current pandemic of C-19 had taught us the importance and ease of ordering food online, pay online, shop online etc. Even we learn that each individual can be tracked and validated whether he had been vaccinated. For many Christians such facilitation of ease of tracking brings to mind of the biblical reference to the end time when the Antichrist will cause every human being to have the “mark of the beast” on him before he could buy or sell. The Bible prophecy in Revelations 13 indeed will definitely come true. Many would have different views whether the mark is a tattoo, inserted microchip or mobile gadget is open to debate. However, it does not really matter as today’s technology will enable such mark to be easily available for the imminent global rule of the Antichrist in the soon coming end time.

With each passing year, the end time draws nearer. As the late Rev (Dr) Tow Siang Hwa used to say “We are in the very last of the last hour. It is nearer than you think. It may be right at the doorstep.” Indeed, time does not linger nor wait for anyone. It ticks on whether you like it or not. The Lord Jesus Christ’s second coming is not to save sinners unto salvation but to come as a Judge to mete out judgement to those who had not been saved by the precious blood of the lamb. He comes to fulfil the biblical prophecy of establishing His millennial kingdom on earth after the battle of Armageddon (cf. Revelation 20). As a Christian, knowing that the Lord Jesus Christ’s second return is imminent do we know what is required for us to do?

Are we still busy and relentlessly pursuing worldly pleasures and material gains? Or are we living in our “bubble of sin and pride”? Or have we decided to dedicate and devote more time to love and to do God’s work. For when the Lord Jesus Christ returns for His saints, just before the Great Tribulation, those who are not saved unto salvation will be left behind on earth to live through this time of wrath. Will you not make a decision today to love and serve Him in the Church and to reach out to lost souls to be saved, before the Lord’s second coming, so that lost sinners would not have to go through the Great Tribulation of the Antichrist?

There are also many ministries in CJBPF. Will you continue to serve God whom you profess to love? Will you continue serving? Do step up and come forward to serve the Lord of lords and the King of kings if you are not serving God right now. Will you serve?

In the first Lord’s Day of the Year, let us make a Pledge together to serve God faithfully, fervently and persistently. Let us serve Him wholeheartedly, with singleness of mind and cheerfully at all times. We serve God with gladness not with deadness of spirit. Our service must be spontaneous and filled with joy. It should not be out of compulsion nor unwillingness. Service with cheerfulness is from the heart.

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58. To God be the Glory!

In Christ, Eld. Choe Tong Seng

2.  I believe in the divine, verbal, plenary, inspiration and preservation of the Scriptures. These Scriptures are identified in the Manuscripts of the Old and New Testaments in the original languages from which the King James Bible was translated.

3.  I believe in all the doctrines of the Calvary Jaya Bible-Presbyterian Fellowship and in the historic Westminster Confession of Faith.

4.  I subscribe to and am in full agreement with the ecclesiastical government of Calvary Jaya Bible-Presbyterian Fellowship according to its Constitution.

5.  I accept my office wholeheartedly and promise before God and this Congregation to faithfully perform all my duties.

6.  I promise to study the peace, purity and unity of the church at all times.

7.  I promise to devote myself daily to prayer and to the study of God’s Word.

8.  I promise to earnestly contend for the Word of God, the testimony of Jesus Christ, and the faith of the Gospel together with the other members of Session until the glorious appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ.

9. I swear in the name of the triune God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—that the Bible is none other than the voice of Him that sitteth upon the throne. Every book of it, every chapter of it, every verse of it, every word of it, every syllable of it, every letter of it, is the direct utterance of the Most High. The Bible is none other than the Word of God, not some part of it more, some part of it less, but all alike the utterance of Him that sitteth upon the throne, faultless, unerring, supreme. So help me God. Amen.
