A YEAR IN RECAP - 22ND ANNIVERSARY OF MIRI BPC ON THE 26TH NOVEMBER

Dear Members in Christ,

A year in recap - 22nd Anniversary of Miri BPC on the 26th November

Figure 1 VBS Team at Kg LusutThis past month, we celebrated with Miri BPC their 22nd Anniversary. For the last 22 years, God’s gracious hand has been upon this mission station through thick and thin. As we consider God’s goodness, the reminder from God’s Word is to praise God, for it is written,

“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night.” Psalm 92:1,2

The Miri BPC has been under the care of Sister Marilyn Nanta these past years, and we thank God that we can come to give thanks and celebrate with them on this 22nd Anniversary.

We thank God also for the support of the brethren from Calvary Pandan BPC, especially for their work in the annual Vacation Bible school (VBS). The past 4-5 years, the VBS was put on hold because of the pandemic. Thank God that this year in September, the VBS team from Calvary Pandan and teachers from the BP church in Pontianak and Kuching were able to come and teach the children. The attendance was 16 children and 9 youths and adults. We were glad to see the children blessed by the teaching of God’s Word.

Fast forward to the 22nd Anniversary celebration held on the 26th November. The day before the anniversary, a Seminar was held on the topic of “God’s plan for the Family.” This seminar was aimed at both the young and old, covering scriptural truths about the roles and responsibilities of parents and children in doing the will of God in obeying His Word.

The highlight of the anniversary celebration was the preaching of God’s Word on the “Fruitfulness of the Christian” taken from Matthew 13:18-23. The message was interpreted by Sister Marilyn, and we pray that Miri will be a fruitful and productive church with mature Christians serving the Lord Jesus faithfully.

We pray that those who are in the Miri church will continue steadfast in their faith and service. We also pray that this mission will be an effective outreach to those who are in need of the gospel of salvation.

The following is a note of gratitude from Sister Marilyn for God’s grace and goodness upon the church.

“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindess in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, LORD, has made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. O LORD, how great are thy works! And thy thoughts are very deep.” Psalm 92:1-5

On behalf of Calvary Miri Bible Presbyterian Gospel Mission, I would like to express our appreciation to all brethren from BPC, from Kuching, Indonesia and Calvary Pandan BPC, Singapore who ministered to us for many years through the preaching of God’s word (Vacation Bible School). Specially to our mother Church, Calvary Jaya BPC, Kuala Lumpur. Thanks so much for your faithfulness to encourage and support us both spiritually and financially. May the Lord continue to bless your good works (Ruth 2:12).

Blessed be the name of our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He is indeed so good to have sustained us at Calvary Miri BPC Gospel Mission in the work of the ministry through these past 22 years. “Hitherto hath the Lord helped us” (1 Samuel 7:12). Pray that the Lord will continue to keep each of our church members to be steadfast and devoted to Him as we seek and serve for His glory in the years ahead.

All glory, honour and praise be unto His name.”

Marilyn Nanta

We thank God for His goodness upon the Church in Miri on their 22nd Anniversary. May God grant willing hands and willing hearts, and we pray that God may call some young man or woman who will give their life for the service of the Lord.

Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” Luke 10:2

In His Service,
