GRH 116 Behold the Man

(1)
In a lowly manger born
Humble life begun is scorn.
In a workshop Jesus grew,
Workman’s life He knew.
Knew the suffering of the weak,
Knew the longing of the meek,
Knew the poor as poor but can
Look at Him, behold the Man!

(2)
Visiting forgotten men,
Drawing them to God again,
Giving of Himself in love
God’s own love to prove.
Sinners gladly heard His call,
Publicans before Him fall
And in Him new life began,
Look at Him, behold the Man!

(3)
Came to earth for you and me,
Gave His life upon the tree,
See in Him God’s love revealed;
By His suffering healed.
Lives again in glory bright,
Lives again in pow’r and might,
Now we know salvation’s plan.
God in Christ has lived as man.
